Mistakes are learning opportunities.
I used to freak out when I learned that my photos aren't perfectly edited or manipulated in a way I expect it to be. I used to beat myself up if I fail to deliver the standards I set myself up with. It haunted me. I wanted my work to be perfect. I was obsessed of becoming the great with only having little knowledge and experience; only to realize I was just being impatient and trying to fulfill an unrealistic goal.
So, I've written a list of affirmation for myself. They serve as my reminders to defeat burnout and to be reminded it's okay to make mistakes. It's okay to suck at something. Making mistakes is a way of learning new things about my craft and myself. It's part of growing up and being human. It helps enhance your skills and strengths. It gives you room for improvements.
Time is indeed a gift.
I have to lose my grandmother and my grand aunt, two beautiful souls to death; only then, I shall discover the true meaning of time. One of the gifts that we cannot touch nor see, but is to use it wisely. I thought that only big opportunities and reaching an ultimate goal are those we call, once in a lifetime moments. I was wrong. I was convinced that time itself is a once in a lifetime moment. You can only be given a second, a minute, an hour, and once your time is up. It's gone forever. That's when a memory or series of memories comes in. It's its thing, to be remained only in the past. A story to be told or forgotten. The only thing we have to face is the present. Ask yourself, "what's living in the moment?". Are you living in the moment? It's okay to reminisce. It's okay to contemplate, but it's not okay to live in the past. It will hold you back from what you're supposed to do, or destined to be. Both time and life never stop for anyone. So, make the most out of what you have. Learn to accept and move forward.
Patience is key.
Patience is a virtue. It's a form of mastery which is difficult to obtain, but is flexible to practice. Everyone can have it but not everyone is willing to master it.
